In the web series I have painted using a systematic approach. The paintings are pre-conceived concepts. In other words, they are designed before they are made. The general system is altered by two distinct elements: the size and formation of the dots/holes and webbing, and the color of the two. Some of the paintings have horizontal bands, others spheres. In each painting, the two colors chosen are bright and attempt to challenge the authority of each other.
These works are about time. When a viewer first looks at the painting, he/she witnesses
one image. As the viewer continues to look, the painting appears to change due to an
optical effect. The work will continue to fluctuate until the viewer stops looking at it.
The surroundings of the viewer are overpowered by the re-verber-ating visual noise.
The viewer is then transported into the reality of the painting and away from the
"real" world. It is in this painting reality where the viewer can contemplate. It
is through time and contemplation that the painting is altered to an animated image.
