DESCRIPTION OF MY WORK:
In my work I use common images to show my conception of my surrounding. My most important topic is the surroundings created and manipulated by men. I am fascinated by it's artificiality and it's ambiguity. I'm trying to dismantle the things of their spotless clarity and to represent as keenly as possible the tension between cosiness and pityless perversion.
I see an example of this artificial and ambiguous world in toys, which I use regularily in my work. For instance the close up of a doll (slide nr.1) where the skin seeme to be real. The difference between life and death then becomes blurred. The doll (slide nr.4) seeme to really see with her plastic eyes. For the onlooker this suggests a strangeness which undermines your association with plastic eyes.
I often focus on things that one doesn't want to see that closely. By enlarging my photographs I contribute to the dematerialisation of the object and intensify at the same time the extrem reality.I often use animals outside of the usual context. They are simplyfied and idealised imitations of the `real' environment, animated with human qualities.I am fascinated by the modern human being who isn't aware of the reality of its things anymore. For us fauna consists of the easterbunny, elephants printed on curtains and Mickey Mouse.
