Artist Statement

My paintings are about energy and randomness. They are largely based in fantasy; abstract shapes and patterns coupled with recognizable images that are slightly skewed and exaggerated. Scenic mountains, intricate interiors, and clusters of waving hands provide a sense of context for the shapes and clouds that flow through them. The sum of these elements then form landscapes, or specifically, dreamscapes with each successive layer of ink covering and revealing the narrative.

The 'Temporary Residence' series, which are all screenprints onto wood and paper, describe spaces that are 'portals' into an abstract 'after-life'.
The architectural elements are inspired by Venetian Palaces, which themselves seem to exist in a world outside our own. They become spaces
where forms travel back and forth, from the familiar to the unfamiliar.
